Geeky toys

Geeky toys,
originally uploaded by rockmanac.

All (well most) of my toys plugged in to their chargers… L->R: iPod 20gig (it’s a classic, pre-photo, pre-video iPod) with matching iTrip, Yaesu FT-60R 2m/70cm ham radio, Plantronics bluetooth headset. The empty plug is for my Samsung u740 which I used to take the picture. In the background is one of my 7+ year old Sony speakers that came with the computer I took to college. Yes, they’re purple, but they still work very, very well…though…I wouldn’t mind a new pair of speakers.

Mad Dog’s Chicago Style Eatery

So if you remember, I mentioned a hot dog place here in Madison in this post.  Well, Emalee and I stopped there for lunch yesterday after walking around Farmer’s Market.  Holy hell, these are the best hot dogs you can get north of the IL-WI border!  They are true to the Chicago style and even the peppers had kick to them.

I would highly recommend anyone looking for a real Chicago hotdog in Madison to stop by there.

Perhaps I might have to check this place out…

I’ve now seen several reviews of Mad Dog’s Chicago Style Eatery which is just off State St. in Madison… Two  good reviews, one in the Isthmus and another here, and one less than stellar review by some guy from Minnesota in the Badger Herald.  I think I might have to go put the place up to the challenge and see if it’s anywhere near as good as the dogs from Budacki’s (Chicago) or Hot Dog Richie’s (Palatine, IL).

Extra, Extra.. Read All About It.. Our President is a whack job…

And this time I have proof! There was an a blog entry that I came across via John C. Dvorak’s blog called “Why Bush Believes His Lies“. It’s a pretty damn interesting read. Here’s a few snippets..

But recognition only raises the deeper question: why, in the face of incontrovertible evidence to the contrary, does Bush persist in this way? How does it help him to continue repeating himself to a nation that increasingly believes he is lying on several fronts? How does his refusal to meet with Cindy Sheehan help him?

There is a two-part answer to this question: First, as far as Bush is concerned, he is telling the truth; as Madeleine Albright recently said to Columbia Magazine: “the most serious problem is that George Bush now believes what he says.” Like many of my hospitalized patients, Bush has created a vast, detailed but vague delusional system he feels compelled to maintain at all costs. This system helps him manage the terrifying anxiety that threatens to make his already endangered inner world more chaotic.

This, if you hadn’t gathered yet, is being written by a shrink, In case you don’t believe me, here (from his bio):

Justin Frank M.D. is an expert in the field of psychoanalysis. A clinician with more than thirty year’s experience, Dr. Frank has also been a former columnist for Salon magazine and is a frequent writer on topics as diverse as politics, film, and theater.

Anyway, just through I should you know, share the news… Of course, most of us knew this all along….
